How to Read the Botanical Landscape
Dr Leander Wolstenholme
Our landscape is littered with clues that tell us how the land has been
used in the past and
what species used to live and grow there. Focussing on the botany and
investigating a num-
ber of habitats, this day school will explore various ways to develop a
deeper understand-
ing of the landscape and relate it to events from the past.
      Indicator species

·
      How trees and hedgerows have been managed
·
      Place names
·
      Farming practices
·
