Thursday 22nd September - 7pm
The Basement, 24 Lever Street, Manchester city centre
Beate Deserathy, Director of the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid
Unit, is kindly giving us a workshop covering the below topics Š
¢ Overview of the asylum determination process
¢ Overview of the funding on a case
¢ Effects of funding cuts and the effects on legal representation
¢ What it takes to lodge a fresh asylum claim
¢ How you can handle your legal representative
¢ What you have a right to expect from your legal representative
¢ What you can do to assist your legal representative
¢ Making official complaints against legal representatives
¢ Where you can get legal advice in Greater Manchester
¢ About the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit
¢ Interaction between legal representation and an anti-deportation
campaign
¢ Questions & Answers session
Everyone welcome.
NCADC strongly urges everyone with an anti-deportation campaign, or
considering starting one, to come to this workshop and bring your
campaign support groups with you. Also, anyone fighting deportation who
does not want to start an anti-deportation campaign. Basically,
everyone facing deportation !
As you know, NCADC is not allowed to give actual immigration advice, we
have no legal representative, have no special recourse to legal
representatives and cannot undertake case-work of any kind - we do help
and advise people on setting up anti-deportation campaigns that should
aim to become capable of undertaking their own level of case-work.
This workshop is a significant opportunity towards campaigns getting
skills to contribute towards the legal aspects of a case, which should
always remain a no. 1 priority for any anti-deportation campaign.
