Hiroshima/Nagasaki 60th Anniversary Activities

Manchester     From Wednesday 3rd August to Wednesday 31st 
August.  Cornerhouse Cinema film series 'Project and Survive: nuclear 
nightmares on the big screen'.  Bruce Kent will be speaking on 8th August 
before the screening of 'Threads'.  Programmes are available from GM&D CND 
office or from the Cornerhouse box office. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO GIVE 
OUT LEAFLETS BEFORE/AFTER EACH FILM SHOWING, contact Jacqui on 0161 273 
8283 if you are willing to help.
Bolton    Saturday 6th August, 11am, vigil at Town Square War Memorial and 
display and film showing at Friends Meeting House, Silverwell Street.
Littleborough    Saturday 6th August, 2pm, paper crane making, short 
ceremony and leafleting at Hollingworth Lake, everyone welcome.
Saddleworth/Oldham   Saturday 6th August, 6.30pm, 20th annual Peace Walk 
starting from Waterhead War Memorial, Huddersfield Road, Oldham and 
finishing at the canal side at Saddleworth Museum Uppermill.
Salford   Tuesday 9th August, 12noon till 2pm, a renewed resolve for peace 
in poetry, song and speech.  The Cenotaph, Chorley Road, Swinton.
Imperial War Museum North   Tuesday 9th August 3pm to 4.30pm.  'Did They 
Need to Drop the Bomb?'  Talk by Dr. Clive Webb, Univeresity of Sussex 
followed by discussion
Prestwich     Sunday 14th August, 1pm, Peace Picnic in Heaton Park by the 
Peace Tree.  Bring a picnic lunch to share.
Imperial War Museum North   9th August, 3pm to 4.30pm, 'Did They Need to 
Drop the Bomb?'  Introductory talk by Dr Clive Webb, University of Sussex

Imperial War Museum North   21st August, 12noon till 4pm, Hibakusha Voices 
(Hibakusha are the survivors of the bombs in Japan).  Composer Robert 
Steadman's original setting of personal testimonies to music, performed by
