Hello everybody,
I'm leading a social ride on Thursday, starting from Albert Square and going
up Route 6 and the Irwell Valley to Clifton Country Park. It's about ten
miles each way and there's a bazzing pub, ( thanks, Anup ) with real ales
and nice food served till 9.00 p.m.. The ride is mostly offroad, though
there is only one bit about a hundred metres long that might require
walking. It's also mostly flat, except for the afformentioned 100 metres,
and of course, coming back in the dark, it will be very dark so bring
lights.
We are meeting in Al Sq at 5.30 p.m. and I expect we'll hang around for a
bit for late arrivals.
I did the whole ride yesterday on a, single speed bike with slick tyres and
reckon anything like a hybrid or touring bike will be sturdy enough, or a
mountain bike if you prefer. I would not personally use a race bike for
this, but it's up to you.
There is also a slightly more mountain bikey option when we get near the
motorway, which we can discuss when we get there.
