1. LLOYDS SEVER TIES WITH CUBA - MODEL LETTERS OF PROTEST

Following recent actions taken by Lloyds Bank against Cuba, CSC is asking
supporters to protest to Lloyds Bank and the UK government.

The European Union sanctions against Cuba (in place since 2003) were formally
lifted on Monday 23 June 2008.

3. RMT GARDEN PARTY SUCCESS  

The annual RMT/Cuba Solidarity Campaign was a huge success yet again this year.
Now in its 6th year several hundred people heard speeches from Bob Crow,
General Secretary of the RMT and Tony Benn amongst others.

4. UNIONS PULL RISE FUNDING

On Monday 23 June, trade unions in London announced that they have withdrawn
all support from the Mayor of London’s Rise Festival following a decision to
ban the Cuba Solidarity Campaign.

"The organisation of the event has been
a fiasco from start to finish. Arrangements for the festival began under former
Mayor Livingstone. Three weeks after the London elections new Mayor Johnson
confirmed the event would continue as before," said a statement released by
Unite the Union.

5. WHAT'S ON

July 12 2008
Cuba50 will be celebrated at this year's historic 124th Durham Miners' Gala on
Saturday 12 July.

Alongside the traditional miners' and trade union banners, Cuba50 flags will
celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution during the march, which
passes through Durham accompanied by brass bands and finishes at the Racecourse
where a rally takes place.
