Anybody know what happened to the Council's efforts to become the
greenest council since they passed that policy over a year ago? the
below talking shop seems to have shifted the emphasis to the voluntary
sector!
And why yet another network (see their web page - doesn't it sound a bit
like what others are already doing?)
We were under the impression the Council were going to set up a Green
Alliance - a body of groups to help the Council become Greener, to
influence and advise it, to critique its action, to help develop policy
and implement change.
Not yet another body (talking shop) for members of the vol sector to
exchange ideas amongst themselves.
Unfortunately there's no opportunity on their web page to give comments
and many of us cannot take a whole day off work to attend the event.
Yours in disillusionment
Eds.

GREEN CITY NETWORK CONFERENCE 2006
On Monday 13 March 2006, Manchester City Council is launching the
Green City Network at the City of Manchester Stadium.
The Green City Network will provide Manchester with an information
and advice network of environmental intelligence. The Network can
help you make better use of existing resources, find out how others
are implementing changes or perhaps help you offer your own
environmental services.
The one-day launch event will include a number of workshops that will
inform and be informed by delegates and speakers alike. This is your
chance to let the Council and the region's environmental support
networks know:
· How you can help Manchester become Britain's Greenest City
· What support YOU need to help you identify and achieve
your goals.
Workshops will include internationally renowned speakers on:
· Climate Change and renewable energy
· Sustainable Enterprise
· Sustainable Communities
· Defining the Green City Network
If you would like more information about the conference or would like
to attend please visit www.manchestergreencity.co.uk or call Sue
Chung on 0161 234 4506. Delegate space is running out fast so reserve
