Brief: The UNISON Manchester banner project The first UNISON
Manchester banner disappeared in mysterious circumstances; luckily, as
it was extremely dull and uninspiring, no one missed it that
much. However, the Branch now requires a replacement banner for use at
various events; such as demonstrations, festivals, strike rallies,
mass meetings and so forth. When not in active use, the banner will be
placed on display in the Branch Office meeting room, overseeing all
the Branch's business. The Manchester Branch of UNISON is calling on
any and all budding designers to produce designs for the new Branch
banner. As befits the Manchester Branch, we require a design for a
banner that can clearly project the Branch's image ? united,
democratic, strong, fair, active, organised, unique, pragmatic,
progressive. When in use, the banner will be held aloft on two poles
carried by two people. Its approximate dimensions will be around 2m by
1m. All elements of the design or motif then will need to be clearly
visible within these parameters. Other considerations: ? ? ? ? ? The
design must conform to the principles of UNISON It must be easy to
understood, and accord with the heritage of the trade union movement
It should be capable of being printed onto banner material The Branch
banner must stand out amongst the many other banners at events
Background information on UNISON and the Manchester Branch is
available at www.unisonmanchester.org

All the designs received will be submitted to a meeting of the Branch
Executive Committee (BEC), and this forum will determine the winning

of entry to this design competition is that all submitted designs will
