DESIGNING YOUR OWN TRAINING COURSES

This practically focused event looks at all aspects of designing
training courses from scratch, and explores how to make your training
appropriate to your audience. It will cover how to decide what
information to include, what to leave out, and what exercises and
methods to use. It will also include information for anyone needing to
design courses for accrediting bodies such as OCN or for an NVQ.

USING DRAMA AND STORYMAKING IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND
INTERPRETATION
                 Thursday 16 February 2006 – Manchester

This highly practical and participative event is designed for
practitioners working in environmental education and interpretation. It
will include simple, easy ideas for you to incorporate storymaking (this
is not a storytelling workshop) and drama in your work to help reinforce
your message in imaginative and memorable ways. As environmental
educators working with children, we usually fit into the National
Curriculum areas of science and geography, however this workshop will
also offer exciting ways for working in the area of Literacy. The day is
aimed at new practitioners, offering new ideas and confidence to carry
out this type of activity in your work; it will also give those with
more experience some refreshing new approaches to enhance the work you
already do.

Are you new to organising conferences? This event breaks conference
organising into manageable steps: finding the right venue; publicity and
marketing; booking catering and equipment; designing a memorable
programme; processing bookings and enquiries; managing reception and
chairing on the day; feedback and evaluation. The day will focus on
events with networking and training elements for 50-150 people. It will
cover the processes involved, provide tips and build confidence.
Although not essential, you will gain most benefit if you are able to
attend with a forthcoming event in mind to work through during the day.

Key Stages 3 and 4, including opportunities and requirements related to
environmental education and Sustainable Development Education. It will
explore case studies of successful partnerships between organisations
and Secondary schools linked to the National Curriculum, and will
introduce examples of resources developed to meet the needs of Secondary
schools and the National Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4. It will also
consider some of the practicalities and challenges of working with
Secondary schools.

exciting and imaginative craft activities designed for this age group.
No craft experience is necessary.
