This friday there is an alternative Freshers Fayre, an info night on
migration and a critical mass bike ride:
1) From 11am til 6pm, the first manchester Alternative Freshers Fair will
be held at The Basement, 24 Lever Street, City Centre. It will feature
many diverse groups doing stalls, talks, workshops, films and
demonstrations, with freebies and giveaways and music:

(Even if you can't make it be sure to check out the basement sometime)
2) At 7.30 there is a jam packed evening of short
films...speakers...workshops and performers tackling and discussing issues
around migration. Workshops will be led by people who work with refugees,
academics and refugees who will discuss their personal experiences.

3) critical mass bike ride meets at 6pm at the central library steps -
