Salford’s Communities to Help Shape City’s Future

Residents, businesses and a wide range of stakeholders with an interest
in Salford’s future are all being invited to an Open Day next week
(Thursday September 8th) and play their part in making the city not just
the most beautiful part of Greater Manchester, but one of international
importance.

As part of a consultation and engagement programme about the exciting
new Vision for Central Salford - which aims to transform the city over
the next 20 years – Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company (URC) has
arranged a special open day to involve local communities, businesses and
other stakeholders in shaping how they want Salford to look and feel
over the coming years.

The day, which is being held at the University campus in front of
Salford Art Gallery and Museum, will be a great opportunity for all
those who live, work and study in Salford to find out about the
proposals - developed by a team of international regeneration experts –
and put their own stamp on the city by feeding back their thoughts and
ideas about the Big Vision.

And, as well as having a chance to meet members of the team who have
helped to create the draft Vision, there will be a host of fun
activities and entertainment taking place to give adults and children
alike the opportunity to be involved in the future success of Salford.

Participants will be able to design their own gardens, create a town
square for Salford and have their faces painted. As well as this,
there’ll be music, refreshments and representatives from community
groups across the city showing the exciting work that is already
happening.

Felicity Goodey, Chair of Salford URC said: “The day is an informative
and fun way for everyone with an interest in Salford to focus on the
future of the city. Everyone who comes to the open day will be a part
of that future and in years to come we want them to remember it and feel
that they played a part in making Salford beautiful, vibrant and
prosperous.”

The day is free to attend and runs from 11am until 7pm. It forms part of
a series of events. For further information about other consultation
events, visit www.centralsalford.com.
