MANCHESTER HARVEST - A Homegrown Festival August 8 - 13, 2005 St Anne’s
Square
Manchester Harvest will be a free week-long novel green experience. A
full-sized allotment will be built in the square, containing fruit,
flowers, vegetables and herbs. This will be tended by volunteer
allotmenteers - picking, weeding, pruning, thinning, and watering - who
will also act as a source of information for visitors and curious
passers by.
There will be talks, displays and activities connected with growing
food, environmental sustainability, eating for fun, health and leisure.
The week will be launched at 6pm on Monday 8th August. Throughout the
week there will be a number of stalls, demonstrations, entertainment and
workshops. At the end of the week, plants will be sold to the public.
