Unity Festival 2005 postponed due to Live 8/G8

A decision has been taken to postpone the Unity Festival 2005 until the
Autumn/Winter, moving to a large indoor venue to be announced shortly.
This decision has not been taken lightly. Given the importance of other
events planned for 2 July – the difficulties some Unity supporters - stall
holders, churches, performers
are facing in responding to both events, we
believe we are right to encourage people to put their energies into
supporting ‘G8, the day of action and the Live 8 events’ and providing the
opportunity to have a Unity event later in the year.
Unity musicians/performers will be broadcasting from ‘ community radio’ on
2 July and all those who were going to perform in the youth showcase, music
stage, comedy and poetry arenas
will have the opportunity to be involved
in a large indoor event, taking a touch of summer, through to those winter
months.
We sincerely apologise to all those who this may affect and we will be
returning any booking fees etc during the coming fortnight.
We want to thank all those people who have volunteered their time and
skills and hope that your support continues with the Unity Winter Festival.
We wish every success to those taking part in the 2 July Day of Action/Events
We also want to encourage people to continue using our local parks and
Unity intends to carry on organising activities in parks particularly as
our Youth Arts & Sounds and Community Arts Projects expands. We want to
thank Chorlton Park, Manchester Council, GMP for their support and guidance
over the years.
